Leonora V. Allen
Tannen L. Allen
Beloved Wife and Mother Leonora VanZyverden Allen died on March 7, 1982 in a Sandy hospital of heart failure. She was carrying their fourth child, Tannen Lawrence Allen, who was stillborn March 7, 1982.
Mrs. Allen was born April 22, 1949 in Salt Lake City to Leo and Sytske (Tina) Dikkerboom VanZyverden. She married Lawrence Marvin Allen Sept. 10, 1969 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She had served as the Young Women’s President and Primary President. She had taught in the church auxiliaries. She was an officer in the PTA.
Survived by Husband, son Trent, and two daughters, Tanji and Katrina, parents of Salt Lake City, grandmother Mrs. H. V. VanZyverden (Servaas), Netherlands, brother and sisters Mrs. Mel (Helena) Yergensen, Sandy, George VanZyverden, Huntington, Utah, Mrs. Stephen (Sytske) Woodhouse, Sandy, Mrs. Michael (Katie) Youngberg, Sebastopol Calif.
Joint funeral services will be held Wednesday 11 am in the Crescent 13th Ward 2195 Pepperwood Dr. Friends may call Tuesday 6 to 8 pm, at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 10600 So. 1700 East, and Wednesday one hour prior at the church. Interment, Berg-Sunset Gardens Funeral Directors, Berg Sunset Gardens.

Nora was my dearest childhood friend. When she died in 1982 it was a turning point in my life. She had such a beautiful spirit and wonderful sense of humor. Always she will be missed.

Nora was a sweet young woman who once showed me a doll she had made out of a wooden spoon. After her passing, I made grandmother, mother and baby spoon dolls in her honor! I lived across the street from the gully where she and Valerie Brown lived and was fortunate to be their friend!

Nora always stood with her shoulders back and held high, not to appear prideful but to comfortable with her height. She, not knowing, taught me to do the same. I would hold up my head around Nora. She was genuine and authentic. I felt a loss when she passed on. Roseann Mix Neilson

I didn't know Nora well in high school but I remember trying to keep up with her and Valerie Brown in math when we were in 4th grade together. Nora was very smart, kind and carried herself with dignity even then.

I knew Nora from Modern Dance class. She was tall, slim, and lovely. Nora was always friendly and had an outgoing, bubbling personality. I loved to hear her laugh. I'm glad to have known her, and I was so sorry to hear of her death.

I remember one day in health class at Skyline (all guys) we had an exercise where we were supposed to vote for the most attractive girl in the school. I forget the object of the exercise, but when the results were tallied, Nora got several votes. At first I was surprised, I guess because of her unassuming nature, but then I thought, "Well, of course!". I was truly shocked at her passing at such a young age. I still am. I first met her, I think, in Mr. Wilkins' class in the fourth grade at East Millcreek Elementary and I always thought she was one of the more likeable people I knew in school.
