Fredrick Charles Wolters

1948 - 2015

Fredrick Charles Wolters III was born on November 5, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Fredrick Charles Wolters, Jr. and Merlyn Romney Wolters.  Fred grew up in Salt Lake County and graduated from Skyline High School in 1967. He graduated with honors from the University of Utah with a B.S. degree in Chemistry in 1975 and from the University of Washington with a PhD. in Physical Chemistry in 1979. He spent many years employed as a scientist at the Clorox Technical Center in Pleasanton, Ca.

From January 1968 to July 1970 he served as a full-time missionary in Japan. He was involved in missionary work after returning from his mission and served as a stake missionary for well over a decade.
He was sealed for time and all eternity to his sweetheart, Julia Henrietta Breitling, on September 20th 1972 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised three daughters.

Fred's prominent characteristics included a love of learning, music, and science. He did not like vegetables, getting up early, or long meetings. He displayed a keen sense of humor. He was also characterized by a certain amount of perseverance and determination.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Julia. He is survived by his siblings Julie (Darold) Humes and Robert (Coleen); his children Katherine (Austin) Thomas, Jennifer (Tony) Barker, and Christine (Jesse) Matsubara, and his eleven grandchildren: Jayde, Simone, and Haven Thomas; Claire, Benjamin, Anthony, Eva, and Amelia Barker, and Annika, Elise, and Sarah Matsubara.

Services were held on July 1, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pleasanton, California. Internment followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Livermore, CA.
