Obituary: Dennis Chris Weenig passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on a hot Aug. 3, 1949, to Christian Noorda Weenig and Elaine (Bingham) Weenig. He was known as a great prankster; in high school, he and his friends scrambled the entire Salt Lake City police force with a fake UFO fastened on top of his car. While in high school, Dennis met the love of his life, Pamela Jo. They married in 1969 in a beautiful ceremony in St. George, Utah, and welcomed their first daughter, Tiffany, into the family in 1972. Soon after, they moved to Anaheim, Calif., as Dennis began working for Outdoor Sports Unlimited. In 1974, they welcomed another bundle of joy, their son Zachary, Three years later, they welcomed their third child, a loving daughter, Jenny. In 1980, Dennis and Pam felt a need to move to quieter surroundings and chose Lewiston (Idaho) as the next destination in their journey. Dennis continued in his sales career, quickly becoming a well-known face in auto sales. It was important to him to build a good reputation with his customers, who often became his friends. Throughout the years, Dennis continued his adventures with his family, enjoying fishing, camping and the great outdoors. He was very proud of all three of his children and taught them to follow their hearts and chase their dreams. In 2002, Dennis and his family traveled to South Africa to attend his eldest daughter Tiffany's wedding. It was on this dream holiday that he found his passion for collecting African artifacts, including an extensive array of African masks. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, landscaping, collecting classic records and spending his time rocking on the front porch with his wife. In his later years, he loved spending time with his three grandsons, Quinton, Silas and Wyatt. He loved taking them fishing, feeding the ducks, flying kites and paper airplanes, and watching dinosaur movies while eating chocolate ice cream. Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Jo (Martin) Weenig; his daughter, Tiffany (Quinton) Stemler; his son, Zachary (Lisa); and his daughter, Jenny; in addition to his three grandsons, Quinton, Silas and Wyatt. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Weenig. He was preceded in death by his brother, Keith, and his parents. There will be a celebration of his life on his birthday in August. An announcement will be placed in the (Lewiston Tribune) paper in the future for details.
