John Joseph Koegler
1948 ~ 2009
Our loving husband, father and friend John Joseph Koegler, 60, returned to his Heavenly Father on January 15, 2009. He was born on December 17, 1948 in Salt Lake City to Joseph G. and Ramona Koegler. He married his sweetheart Carol Allen on August 31, 1973 in the Salt Lake Temple. John served in the U.S. Navy, and a LDS mission in the Northern States Mission. He loved his horses, dogs, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a devoted husband and father and loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife and daughter Ramona. Preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 19th at the Cottonwood 3rd Ward, 1535 East Creek Road.A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday January 18th at the Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, and one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute in John's name.

Although I knew a lot of people at Skyline, I really only had a handful of friends. John was one ot them. What do I remember most? How genuinely nice he was.. and that tremendouly loud raucus (sp?) laugh he came out with at the drop of a hat. Even if the situation wasn't funny you had to laugh if he did because his laugh was so loud, weird, and enjoyably funny. See you again someday, John. Just hopefully not too soon :) Lyle Chamberlain

When Hellstrom put the smoke bomb in my cheese fondue, I almost called the paramedics.
When I stuck my head through the broken window in the mens room at church, and gave you one good "GODZILLA", I thought sure I'd killed you then.
And the time you we're blessing the sacrement in junior sunday school! OMG! I'm sorry I got you kicked out of church for busting a gut rite in the middle of the prayer. I'll pay for that one!

I didnt find out that John had died until I saw his name on the 'In Memory' list. I thought I'd enter some memories I have of John ---Especially since I didn't get to go to his services & give my condolences to his widow & daughter.
I got to know John when he was a Track Team Manager & I was in the Pep Club & we were doing stats. He had a couple of friends who I had 'teenage crushes' on. John was trying to get my attention & I was trying to get his friends to pay attention to me! It never worked out for me & any his friends, but John & I became good friends. He ended up dating one of my good friends for a while & treated her like a princess!
We both loved animals & the outdoors. He loved his pidgeons & dog that he had then. We would take the dog out to practice retrieving & sometimes go target practicing. He & his 'partners in crime' had fun with the pranks they played on me. (By the way K ----one of my daughter's & one of yours, were in the same class at Jordan High for a while)
One morning I went out in my back yard & frogs had mysteriously appeared in our pond John asked a couple of days later how I liked the frogs. The mystery was solved! My friends & I would attempt to toilet paper his house---it was really difficult 'cause of his house being on a main street intersection After graduation we both0ended up working at the Hot Shoppes Restaurant at the Cottonwood Mall. In 1968 we went to Skyline's Homecoming dance & we did a few things together after that & then went our separate ways.
The last time I saw him was when he was on the Channel 5 Outdoor's show with his dogs. How he loved being in the outdoors with his familly, friends & pets!
